How do I get started with The Pool Fam?

Request a free quote through the website or give us a call. We'll come look at your pool — size, surface, screen, tree cover — and give you one flat weekly rate. If it works for you, service usually starts within a week. No contract, no sign-up fee.

Question 2

Do I have to sign a contract?

Accepted Answer

No. Service is month-to-month and you can cancel anytime with a week's notice. We'd rather keep customers with good work than with paperwork.

Do I need to be home during service visits?

Accepted Answer

No — most customers aren't. We just need gate access and pets secured. You'll get a photo and visit summary through our service app the moment we're done, so you always know we were there.

I already have a pool company. Is switching a hassle?

It's easier than you'd think. Give your current company whatever notice they require, and we can typically start the following week. Your first visit includes a full water analysis so we know exactly what we're inheriting.

We're based in Ormond Beach and serve Volusia County and southern Flagler County: Ormond Beach, Ormond-by-the-Sea, Daytona Beach, Holly Hill, Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, New Smyrna Beach, and Palm Coast. Just outside those? Ask — routes evolve.

How much does weekly pool service cost?

Weekly full service starts around $50–$60/week for a typical screened residential pool, standard chemicals included. Chemical-only plans start around $35–$45/week. Every pool is different — heavy tree cover, no screen, extra-large pools — so we confirm your exact flat rate after seeing the pool. It never changes without a conversation first.

Are chemicals really included in the price?

Accepted Answer

Standard chemicals — chlorine, muriatic acid, and routine balancers — yes, included in your flat rate. Specialty items like salt bags, stabilizer, or phosphate remover are quoted and approved by you before we add them. No mystery line items.

How does billing work?

Accepted Answer

Monthly, by card on file through our service platform (Skimmer). You get an itemized statement, and any one-off approved extras appear as their own line — never buried.

Will my rate go up in summer?

Accepted Answer

No. Your weekly rate is flat year-round. Summer needs more chlorine, winter needs more filter work — it averages out, and we'd rather you have a predictable bill.

My pool is green. Can you fix it?

Accepted Answer

Yes — green-to-clean recovery is one of our core services. Most pools clear in 4–7 days across 3–4 visits, with a flat price quoted up front and photo updates so you can watch the progress. Then we set you up so it doesn't happen again.

What is cyanuric acid and why does everyone keep mentioning it?

Cyanuric acid (CYA, or 'stabilizer') protects chlorine from sunlight — essential in Florida. But it accumulates, and past roughly 80–100 ppm it starts handcuffing your chlorine, which is why pools go green while owners swear they're adding plenty. We test CYA regularly; most companies don't.

Is a salt pool better than a chlorine pool?

Neither is 'better' — a salt pool IS a chlorine pool that makes its own chlorine from salt. Salt systems give softer-feeling water and steadier sanitizer levels, but add cell maintenance and constant pH creep. We service both every day and honestly have no dog in the fight.

My pool smells like chlorine. Does that mean there's too much?

Usually the opposite. A strong 'chlorine' smell is chloramines — used-up chlorine that's bound to sweat, sunscreen, and other organics. It means the pool needs more free chlorine (a shock), not less. Properly balanced water barely smells at all.

Is the water safe for kids and dogs right after a visit?

After routine weekly balancing, yes — swim as soon as we're gone. The exception is a heavy shock treatment (like during green-pool recovery), where we'll tell you exactly how long to wait, usually until chlorine drops back under 4 ppm.

Will I have the same service day every week?

Yes — you get a fixed day and the same familiar faces. If a hurricane or holiday shifts the schedule, you'll know through the app before it happens, and the visit moves within the same week.

Do you still come when it rains?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Rain doesn't stop cleaning or chemistry — in fact, after heavy rain your water needs us more, not less (dilution throws off balance and runoff feeds algae). We only pause for lightning and severe weather, and we make those visits up.

How does the photo proof actually work?

We run our routes on Skimmer, a pool-service platform. Your tech photographs the pool before and after the work and logs the water readings, and that report goes to your email or the app immediately. Over time it becomes a complete visit history — you can look back and know exactly what happened in your pool on any week.

What happens with my pool during hurricane season?

Before a storm we'll get your water chemistry ahead of the disruption (don't drain your pool — full pools survive storms better). After a storm we run recovery routes, prioritizing pools with heavy debris. Storm cleanup beyond a normal visit is quoted honestly before we start.

My pump/heater is acting up. Can you fix it?

We're a cleaning and water-chemistry company, and Florida law reserves equipment repair and installation for licensed contractors — so we don't do repairs, and we're upfront about it. What we will do: spot problems early, describe the symptoms accurately, and refer you to a licensed local pro we'd use ourselves.

Will you at least tell me if something looks wrong with my equipment?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely — we're at your equipment pad every week, so we're usually the first to notice a whining pump bearing, a creeping filter pressure, or a drip that wasn't there last visit. You'll hear about it the same day, with photos, plus a referral if it needs a licensed repair.
